If you like savory snacks, this quick and easy biscuit recipe will surely delight you.
The biscuits come out soft and delicious. They are wonderful on their own, enjoyed with a cup of tea or with meals if you like. Savor them freshly from the oven, (after you let them cool for a bit, of course) and enjoy the taste of soft, moist and cheesy biscuits in all their glory. I like to eat them split in half and spread with some butter while still warm...yummy delicious!
Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
1-3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine
2-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp. sour cream, for brushing
2 tbsp. finely grated Swiss or Emmental cheese
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl cut margarine and flour together with a pastry cutter, until all blended.
Add baking powder, salt, whipping cream and milk. Stir together to form a dough.
Place dough on a floured board adding a bit more flour and knead a few times then fold the dough to form into a rectangular shape.
Roll dough out gently to about 1/2 inch thickness. Brush top with sour cream. Sprinkle with the grated cheese.
Cut across into strips, about 2 inch wide, then cut across each strip diagonally to form wedges.
Place wedges about 1/2 inch apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 375 F for 12-15 minutes or until top becomes golden brown.
Makes: about 2-1/2 dozen
