Apple and Raisins Strata

Here it comes another breakfast (or brunch) recipe. When it comes to breakfast, I do like things that are easy to make and taste great too,  and this recipe is both.  You are going to enjoy this strata, and if you do - or you maybe have a suggestion or a question - feel free to drop me a line - in the comment box bellow the recipe - and tell me about it. Love you hear from you!

Enjoy!

Ingredients:
4 cups of cubed whole wheat bread (about 6-7 slices)
1 apple, chopped
1/4 cup raisins
4 oz. (125 gr.) Cream cheese cut into 1/4 inch cubes
4 eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
1 tsp. cinnamon + more for serving, if you like
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tbsp. maple syrup + more for serving
 Cool whip

Directions:
Spread half the bread cubes onto a greased  8-inch by 8-inch baking dish. Spread the chopped apples and raisins on top. Drop the cubed cream cheese on top of apples and raisins and spread the remaining bread on top.

Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and maple syrup in medium bowl until well blended. Pour over bread. Refrigerate 12 hours or overnight.

Heat the oven to 350ยบ F. Bake strata, covered, for 30 minutes then uncovered for 15-20 minutes,  or until centre is set and top is lightly browned.

Serve warm with drizzled maple syrup on top and cool whip on the side. I also like to sprinkle some more cinnamon on top.

Makes: 4-6 servings
