Spiced Apple Ring

I love when the aroma of  baking is filling the house...

Sometimes, when I'm really busy,  I just want to bake something quick and easy.  This is a great recipe; quick and easy. The Spiced apple ring, just as the name says, it is a very flavourful coffee cake.  As this ring was baking, the wonderful aroma of spices was filling the kitchen.  Great with coffee,  tea or just on it’s own.




3/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
1-1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 cups grated apples
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 cup sliced almonds


Grease and flour an 10-inch round pan or ring mould.

In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until well combined.

Stir together the flour, baking powder,salt, cinnamon, and allspice, then fold into the creamed mixture.

Stir in the grated apples and the milk.

Sprinkle the almonds around the base of the pan and spoon the cake mixture on top, smoothing batter with a spoon.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350 F for about 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn into a plate to cool completely.

To serve, cut into slices.

TIP: For a milder flavour, you can use less spices or use only cinnamon and omit the cloves and allspice.
