Vegetarian Pizza

I like to make my own pizza. It’s quite easy, when you think about it and much, much cheaper, than to buy from a pizza place... If cost doesn’t matter, maybe the fact that you can add your own, favourite  toppings, will.  In any case, for me, it’s fun to have a pizza night once in a while… and maybe invite a few friends over to share it with...
This recipe makes one 12 inch pizza, but recipe can be easily doubled.

Have fun!

Pizza Recipe

Dough Ingredients:
1 tsp yeast
1/4 cup milk, lukewarm
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp. vegetable oil

Toppings:
3-4 tbsp. pizza sauce
1 red pepper, sliced
2-3 tomatoes, sliced
5-6 mushrooms, sliced
1/3 cup black olives, pitted and halved
1 cup grated Mozzarella cheese

Dissolve yeast in the milk; set aside to rise; until foamy.

Place flour in a bowl; mix in salt. Make a hollow in the center and add yeast, water and oil.  Stir with a wooden spoon until mixed the, using your hands, form into a dough.  Place it on a floured board and knead dough ( as you do for bread) about 10 times, or until smooth. Form into a ball; cover with a towel and let sit to rise for 30 minutes.

Punch down dough and roll into a circle; place it on a large (12-14 inch) pizza pan. Stretch with your fingers to the size of your pan. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes before adding the topping.

Spread pizza sauce over dough. Top with sliced peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and olives, (or your choice toppings).  Spread the grated cheese on top.

Bake at 375 F for 35-45 minutes or until cheese is bubbling

Enjoy!
