Served with mashed potatoes and all the trimmings, this is a wonderful meatless option for your next Thanksgiving dinner.
1/2 frozen Vege Turkey roll*
2 pkg. Turkey stuffing
Gravy:
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 pkg. onion soup mix
1/2 tsp. Marmite yeast extract
1 tsp. chicken seasoning
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
Defrost turkey roll, and slice into about 1/4 inch slices ( about 22 slices).
Prepare stuffing according to package instructions. Set aside to cool.
For gravy:
Place oil into a pot, on medium heat. Add flour and onion soup mix. Stir until hot, then remove from heat, and mix in yeast extract, chicken seasoning, paprika and seasoning salt.
Add water slowly to break any lumps and dilute with more cold water about 3 cups. Place on medium heat and cook until thickens .
Pour a thin layer on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Fill slices with stuffing folding them like a taco shell and placing them besides each other in the pan.
Pour more gravy on top, reserving the rest for serving with the meal.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until start to brown.
* Vege Turkey Roll, ( I used the Worthington brand) comes in 4 lb. roll. This, or similar type of vegetarian meat slices may be found at your local Natural Foods store or in the "health foods" section of your supermarket.
