There are so many different berries that can be combined with any number of different ingredients to make unique tasting smoothies. Berry smoothies are very nutritional, containing vitamin C, vitamin E, antioxidants, and a lot of other nutrients as well. Berries combine with everything from milk, to orange juice and with so many berries to choose from, inventing a different smoothie recipe is simple.
· Blueberry - high level of antioxidants and may be considered most nutritional berry.
· Raspberry - sweet taste along with vitamin C, vitamin E, and a good weight loss supplement
Berries provide natural sweetness, instead of sweeteners, add more fruit, for a healthier smoothie.
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberry, frozen
1 cup orange juice
1/2 crushed ice
2 tbsp ground Salba*
Place blueberries, raspberries, chopped banana, orange juice and crushed ice into a blender. Pulse a few times, then blend on high until blended. Add Salba and pulse a few times.
Serve and enjoy!
*Salba is a fibre with an extremely high content of Omega 3’s and antioxidants. Available at your natural or health food stores.
Variation; Replace orange juice with half milk and half yogurt, or soy milk.
